i am a mom/wife/textile designer gone haywire. I love to sing(music/arts AA degree), craft, exercise, and be goofy. Just living life outside the norm. And the norm thanks me for it. Oh yeah, and I like me some haikus. . . . . . . . . . What are we up to currently? Aaron recently started medical school at Ross University on the island of Dominica in the Caribbean, and the kids and I are along for the crazy ride :)

12 years. whoa.

Monday, July 25, 2011

I was just thinking about our wedding anniversary that's coming up in August.... it's been 12 years. wowza.
I'm trying to decide what to do for Aaron for our anniversary since things are tight with Medical School Applications and things.  We already have tickets to see the Decemberists that we bought a few months ago.  Needs to be something creative.... hmmmmmmm.  Suggestions?  And don't be dirty ;)
Also, I just looked at this post titled Ahhhhhh-nostalgia that I posted 3 years ago about old pictures from our wedding. Umm wow.  I look like a teenager.  oh wait.  I WAS a teenager.  Married at 19, baby! Aaron is so handsome :)  hee hee  I love the pictures.
Maybe I'll get him a thinner wife.... I figure if I stop making such scrumptious things to eat all the time, I might be able to be that wife.  Last night we made oreo ice cream (oh me oh my) and right now I've got strawberry icecream twirling in the ice cream maker..... ok, after that's GONE, I'll work on that present...

We just got a new printer because ours went kaput. This new one is a printer plus a scanner, color copier, and everything else you could ever hope for- and before you ask, no, it doesn't have a bidet. Anyway, since we've never owned a scanner, we thought we'd have fun scanning old pictures- starting with the wedding 9 years ago. Man, were we cute, or what?

The Wedding Announcement

Here we go!!!

I like the next two. how sweet are these?

This is one of Aaron's favorites :o)

AHHH!! And on our wedding day!!!

More photoshop fun

Us and our parents- however cute it might be, it was kind of weird posing for that one.... dot dot dot....

This is MY favorite one. What a hunk!

Ahhhhh

Harward Family (minus two siblings and their families) with both sets of grandparents. Grandpa Woolley married us.

Shumway Family with Grandpa Shumway- All four grandparents were there, but three left before this was taken - poor grandpa didn't have a choice since he needed a ride (August in AZ gets REALLY hot)

The wedding crowd

My Maid of Honor and Me

(Sorry I didn't get your permission to post this Courtney, but you look cute so don't get mad :o)

Next are pics from the reception :o)

The happy dancing couple
This is my favorite from the reception. Aaron is dancing to "Macho Man" before he takes the garter off of my leg. I love the expression on his face and the fact that the shadow unedhim makes him look like he's wearing hammer pants ha ha

Har har har- this is so cute! My nephew, Kenyon (our ring bearer), and Aaron pretending to be a puppet and puppeteer at the reception. Is lattice still in? Was it even in when we got married?

McKenzie (my niece, the flower girl) and Kenyon having fun. What cute kids!

That's a wrap!

Utah Trip - First Installment

Welcome to the Shumway Family Blahhhg.

This last week Stephanie's sister got married in the Salt Lake Temple so we rented a car and drove up for the festivities. It was a lot of fun and really nice to see everyone (including Stephanie's brother, Rob, for the first time since he got back from Iraq).

The day after we got to Mom and Dad's house, Aysha and Stephanie decorated the lawn and trees with yellow hearts and ribbons, reminiscent of the song "tie a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree," and hung a big banner over the garage that said "Welcome home from Iraq! We love you Rob!" (Made by Mom, Cami, and Katie)

Colin (Rand and Aysha's son) and Matthew had a great time playing and really liked each other's company the whole trip. It was nice to have a buddy. When we drove up Mom and Dad's street the whole thing was torn up and there were large construction trucks.... I have no idea what kind of trucks they were. Matthew would start singing Bob the Builder everytime he went outside and would point to the truck excitedly and say "Mom! Bob the builder! Mom! Bob the Builder!"

Rand rode with Rob and Renee from the airport that afternoon and we were all waiting outside to welcome them.

That night all of the girls took Katie out for Sushi, which Stephanie had never tried before and was a little scared about. It turned out fine, however, the rolls Stephanie liked the best were tempura-ed, so it wasn't really true "blue" sushi anyway. They decided that every family gathering would include a girls night from now on, since they had so much fun.

From L to R: Stephanie(sister), Kaite (sister and the bride), Cami (sister), Aysha (Sis in law), Renee (sis in law)

After dinner, we raced to the reception center to take our family pictures. The dress code was blue jeans and a shirt ranging in color from navy to white. Both Aaron and Stephanie wished that they had started their dieting a little earlier (their plan is to start on August 22nd after Aaron takes the DAT) so they weren't the biggest people in each picture, but oh well. Our kids are still cute. The ones shown here are not the actual pictures, just us taking pictures while the photographer does her work.

What a cutie. This has been the first installment of The UT trip blog. Stay tuned for the wedding day and a day in Provo Canyon where we were visited by two moosen. Thank you Brian Regan.
