i am a mom/wife/textile designer gone haywire. I love to sing(music/arts AA degree), craft, exercise, and be goofy. Just living life outside the norm. And the norm thanks me for it. Oh yeah, and I like me some haikus. . . . . . . . . . What are we up to currently? Aaron recently started medical school at Ross University on the island of Dominica in the Caribbean, and the kids and I are along for the crazy ride :)

Baby Shower Bows.....

Saturday, August 6, 2011

This afternoon I went to a baby shower for my friend, Riki Wamsley, and her almost born daughter Emma Diane Wamsley.  If any of you have known me for a while you know that there is only one thing I bring to girl baby showers.  Bows.  Lots of Bows.  I looked through my hodge podge of crafting supplies and found sufficient supplies to create a sizable gift even though I haven't been shopping for bow stuff in years.  I guess that's what happens when you own a business and have a huge supply like we did.
Here's what I came up with... I'd have liked to do some brighter colors but I used what I had. (sorry about the dingy mat- that's what I use so that I dont get glue on my table... I've had it through the business years and in personal crafting too so.... like 7 years?  LOL)

I didn't sew anything in this batch which is odd for me, so I'm missing a whole other type of bows/flowers, but I didn't have it in me today :)  Maybe you'll see some sewing work of mine with the next shower.  All of the rhinestones are swarovski and are so sparkly but they don't photograph well. oh well.  Here is a close up of all of the bows...

This gray lace and felt one was made to match a grey and white striped outfit that my friend Jaime gave her already...  I don't know if you've noticed, but gray and yellow are a thing right now.

Sequins... are they out or in?  I guess we'll let Emma decide...
Tattered Lavender :)

I love LOVE this one.  It's super cute- i need to make one for us Shumway girls...

Shabby-chic Off-White one

 Sea Foam

 Hot Pink. Yeah baby.

Melted Ribbon.  Soft and Pretty.

Side view so you can see how fluffy :)

Plain white flower

White Blessing Bow with ricrac elastic- looks whiter in person

side view so you can see the tool on front and behind

Red layered Grosgrain and Organza on nylon.

These tiny ricrac ones are so precious on a head. Off a head? "eh."
This one has 5 flowers on it so they pretty much go around the whole head. I love daintiness on babies.  You can see how I gathered the elastic under each flower.

Bow Holders

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Real quick I have to post this in 2 minutes before it's tomorrow! The garden videos take a few hours each to upload, so it's gonna be a couple days before Gardening with Mittleider part II is posted since I have to upload them at night when we don't need the computer (yes, I know it shouldn't take this long- we are trying to get this problem fixed, but until then we wait). SHOOT, it's tomorrow! Darn midnight- I stay up too late! And I'm sick and losing my voice on top of it! We had the Downeys over for FHE tonight and played us some guitar hero world tour afterward- I sang one song and sounded like a dying frog. Hooray for drums!

ANYWHO, I wanted to show y'all some bow holders I made for my friend Cassi- they turned out so cute! The letters are for her daughters- Anndi, Hadley, and Kamryn and her bathroom is decorated in red yellow and orange, so this is what I came up with. They remind me of Cassi cause they're so spunky :o) Aren't they adorable!?

You just hang them on your wall and clip hair bows and clips on the ribbon that hangs down. This is not a new idea, but I like how they turned out. And no, this is not scrapbook paper decoupaged on, it's paint. It would've been easier with paper, probably, but I wanted that clean look. Whelp, it was nice chatting, I better set more videos to upload and go to bed. Sayonara!

CAMPING!!

Friday, May 2, 2008

We went camping with our neighbor friends on April 18th to Flowing Springs Campsite just 5 minutes out of Payson on the 87.

Here are the camo shirts that I got for the kids. They love 'em!

Of course I had to make Meg some camo bows.....

Here are various pictures of us sitting around the campsite- of course none of us brought our cameras when we went down to the river to catch crawdads. C’est la vie!

Look at this great tree that Sasha, Clayton, and Maia are under.....

Jeremy did really well.... he was the warmest of everyone on Friday night...snoring away while the rest of us were shivering in our sleeping bags.........

Will and Chaydin hangin out.....

Skyla "appleface" Nicholson.....

Evan "squishyface" Rains

Cake, Cheezits, baby's bottle... so many things to eat, so little time. Matthew was eating the entire time we were camping.
Happy Birthday, Will!
I love this picture....
Aaron: This is a pretty nifty hatchet...
Jason: Uhh... *scratch*scratch* ...maybe you should put that thing down....

Yay mountain men! we'd freeze without you! Here's a shout out to Clayton, the unpictured mountain man......

Easter

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

Easter was fun- it came and went pretty quickly though! I hard boiled eggs and then was so wary about the mess dying them would make that we didn't even do it this year :o( I'm such a bad mom. We still have the stuff, so Megan says she wants to do it this week. I still have time to redeem myself a smidgen.....
Saturday some neighbors and I put together an Easter egg hunt and barbecue- it was lots of fun and yummy- yay bratwurst.
Megan wore a pretty dress that was handed down a couple of years ago from my friend's sister- (Thanks Robin and Wendy) and it fit perfectly and looked so cute with the headband I made for it. The pictures don't do it justice. She looked like a happy little angel walking down the hall at church.

Halloween Fun

Thursday, November 1, 2007

Okey Dokey Artichokey... Here is an update of what's been happening in the last little while including Halloween:

I failed to mention earlier that Aaron has officially applied for dental school. I had the honor of entering his course work class by class into the ASDEA(?) website for him.... what fun!

I've been hired by my next door neighbor to make some bows for her 3 daughters. We went to the ribbon store with the outfits she wants the bows for and picked out ribbons for each of them. It was fun. I'll be making a lot of them today at Alex and Julie's (a.k.a. Rod and Norma's) house when we (Anna, Julie, Terry) get together to make bows for our girlies.

For halloween we went to our ward's trunk or treat and I worked a booth for YW. My booth was the classic bean bag toss into the pumpkin cutout. Matthew slept for 5/6 of the night and I finally had to wake him up so he could participate in at least a few of the festivities. He has been asking for "Camdy" every 5 minutes ever since because he knows we have some somewhere... bleh. The wings I made for angel Megan turned out to be very hardy, withstanding the unending race through the parking lot with all of the other costumed kids. They had a ball and nothing was ruined. phew! Aaron was a "Bad Dentist" for halloween complete with scrubs, a carpenter's drill, and a monkey wrench. Both Matthew and I were farmers with overalls, bandanas and cowboys hats. Our camera quit working in the middle of the festivities, so I had my friend take some family pictures of us in costumes which I will post on here as soon as I get her to email them to me.

Here are the kiddos and dad:
