i am a mom/wife/textile designer gone haywire. I love to sing(music/arts AA degree), craft, exercise, and be goofy. Just living life outside the norm. And the norm thanks me for it. Oh yeah, and I like me some haikus. . . . . . . . . . What are we up to currently? Aaron recently started medical school at Ross University on the island of Dominica in the Caribbean, and the kids and I are along for the crazy ride :)

American Harmony

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Ok, as some of you may know, Aaron and I sing. This has been a huge part of are lives thus far. Both aaron and I were in top HS choirs in the nation, met when we were cast as romantic opposites in the musical, Pippin, and majored in vocal performance in college(before majors changed).
When I found out about this movie I got SO excited! We LOVE Barbershop. Aaron had a barbershop group in HS, and I have been searching for a Sweet Adelines (womens barbershop) chapter to join since Christmas (was in a temporary group for christmas caroling and had way too much fun). It was on this search that I stumbled upon the movie, American Harmony- A documentary film about barbershop singing coming out this spring. Unfortunately they're not going to be showing it in a wide array of theaters, so I thought I'd spread the word- go to the web site and click GET HARMONY to be put on their mailing list- it asks for your zip code- if enough of us do this they will see that they have a following in AZ and hopefully bring it here. If they do, they will mail you the showing time and location so you won't miss it. Here is the site-http://www.americanharmonythemovie.com/index.php watch the trailer. I'm excited. I love documentaries! Nothing better than real life!

Haircut Vote

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Hey all- I have been having fun with my hair as it grows out of the last cut and even though it's not even to my shoulders yet, I'm having the seven month itch... to divorce my hairstyle.... I saw this video and thought "ooooh that's cute- I really like that," but I'm a little indecisive about doing it. So I'm putting it to a vote! Yes, you get to decide what I should do with my hair! Leave a comment with one of the following:

A-DON'T CUT IT! Leave it the same!!
B-Cut the dang hair- it'll grow back anyway
or
C-Go for a different hairstyle- here's a link!

Obviously if you choose C, you have to add a link to the hair you think I should get. I just don't have it in me to make the decision this time around.

***ADDED NOTE- I wasn't trying to grow it out, the only reason I was growing it out is cause I hadn't gotten it cut again yet.....

Oh what a night!

Sunday, March 1, 2009

"...late December back in '63 What a very special time for me. As I remember, what a night!" Ok, if you don't recognize that song, just keep reading and don't give that another thought..... However, we had a really fun family night Saturday night! We went to San Tan Marketplace and the kids got to play at the little play place there with all the butterfly and flower toys,

Matthew is such a poser. He learned this shoulder head thing from Megan.

We had Dairy Queen (yum), and as we were walking back to the car, we passed the thingy that they strap people in to and turn them every which way... you know what I'm talking about, right? This thing?
Well, we always see it when we're there. The kids stopped and watched it for a while, awestruck. The difference last night was that I read the sign and it turns out that both kids were tall enough to ride it and it was only $5 per person!
Oh boy did those kids have fun!

If the video doesn't play just click on the YouTube logo in the bottom right corner and it will open another window in which to watch it.
